A great day celebrating research in the Capitol Rotunda

I make a lot of trips to Madison, but few have been as enjoyable as the day I spent Wednesday, April 22, in the Capitol celebrating the tremendous student-faculty research that is happening at UW-Stout and across the UW System.

I was privileged to participate in the annual Posters in the Rotunda: UW Research Powers Wisconsin event in the Capitol Rotunda, surrounded by the products of joint research projects by students and their faculty mentors. You can read about our participants here.

repThis is a great opportunity for our students to interact with the legislators who represent their home districts. We spent time with state Sen. Sheila Harsdorf, Rep. Dean Knudson, Sen. Janet Brewley and others.

I want to thank Research Services for organizing the day and the faculty members — Thomas Pearson, Nels Paulson and Tina Lee — who made the trip with their students.

Also, it was a hoot to run into another Bob Meyer at the Posters event. He works as an aide to state Rep. Dana Wachs of Eau Claire. This Bob Meyer is an Eau Claire Regis High School graduate whose father, Bob Meyer Sr., still lives in Altoona.

I finished off the night Wednesday with a great alumni gathering at the Concourse Hotel.

I certainly will look forward to a return trip to Madison next year
