An inauguration day to remember and a budget update

A hearty thank you for a great inauguration

I want to extend a great big thank you to everyone who made my inauguration Thursday such a special event for me and my family. I know that a lot of work went into the inauguration, and it will be a memorable day for the rest of my life.

Inauguration of Chancellor Bob Meyer

Bob Meyer, the seventh leader in the history of University of Wisconsin-Stout, was inaugurated at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center.

UW-Stout is a very special place, and I was especially thankful that I and the rest of the speakers had a chance to sing those praises Thursday. I realize a lot of hard work and difficult decisions are ahead of us, but the support and good cheer that I saw before, during and after the inauguration reminded me that we have what it takes to build on what has been accomplished at UW-Stout and make the next few years even better.

Thanks again!

Budget update

I want to thank the members of the Strategic Planning Group for a very productive, thoughtful and insightful meeting Friday. We spent three hours going over the work of a special subcommittee that reviewed more than 800 suggestions on how to address our impending budget reduction.

While the SPG made no recommendations, the advice that I and other members of my Cabinet received will be invaluable as we close in on recommendations for meeting whatever budget reduction the Legislature decides to impose.

It appears the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will consider the UW System’s portion of the budget in late April or early May. We will keep the campus informed of any budget developments as they occur.

Very nice speech for your inauguration. You’re definitely the right person to lead Stout during these uncertain times. Maybe I’ll see you on May when we are at Freshman registration for my son.
